December 14th 1812: Napoleon’s invasion of Russia ends
On this day in 1812, Napoleon’s Grand Armée was expelled from Russia when the last French troops left, thus ending the French invasion of Russia. France’s failure was a decisive turning point in the Napoleonic Wars, and turned the tide of the war against the French and in favour of the coalition against them. Napoleon had begun the invasion in June 1812, but by the end his army of around 685,000 was down to 120,000. This was partly because his tactic of getting resources by ‘living off the land’ was thwarted by the harsh Russian winter and the Russian scorched earth tactic.
My latest art infatuation. This film is brilliant, I’m totally in love. I hope this artform never completely dies out.

Jugenea: A History

(Just so you know, typing out that title made me think that we Jugenea fangirls should co-author a book. Ooooh, or a bi-annual magazine!! :’D)

Anyway.

The term Jugenea was actually made up by a friend of mine while we were talking about random crap, and we started trying to think up combinations of our names for ourselves and for other couples. We both loved Judy and Gene at the time (him not so much anymore) and somehow he dropped the term jugenea, and I jokingly said something along the lines of “Omg, that kinda sounds like a flower!”

So Jugenea was actually a name for one of those tribute roses that are named after actual people.

Afterwards I was fooling around in Photoshop and figured that just to be silly, I’d make one of those “definition” photos of a made-up internet term.

The first use of the word “Jugenea” on Tumblr was November 9, 2011. And for some reason, you guys liked it and it stuck around. :P

So yes. Jugenea was originally the name of a rose made up my my friend and I, the “-a” was basically just a little add-on that makes it sound elegant and less like an actual name.

Gene was in the Navy.

All this time I didn’t think he served in World War II. And he did. He just became even more perfect in my eyes.
